In the Late 1990’s, CleanTeQ Aromatrix installed two biological odour control systems at the North Drop Structure (NDS) and South Drop Structure (SDS) sites. At the time, this was a pioneering application of biotechnology in Australia’s wastewater sector.

Two decades on, the systems have more than proven their value. For over 25 years they have performed reliably in one of Melbourne’s most sensitive public environments—right beside the Scienceworks Museum and within a heritage-listed precinct. By effectively capturing and treating odours, the system has protected public amenity, reduced corrosion, and maintained trust between critical infrastructure and the community it serves.

Today, CleanTeQ Aromatrix is returning to the NDS site to deliver the next chapter of this story. We are replacing the original system with our latest biological treatment technology, designed for even greater efficiency, resilience, and sustainability. Just as the first installation set a benchmark over two decades ago, the new facility will ensure the site remains at the forefront of effective odour control for decades to come.
